But so often people just forget when their interest free period runs out. Then the interest piles on and the monthly expenditure sudenly rises. So do the credit card companies actually want you to anticipate when that interest free period is about to expire? Of course they don't!

They may tell you in the small print, or they may well write a letter to you and let you know when it's too late. But do they write to you in ample time, and at the same time provide you with a link to transfer your balance to another card, then and there? And then a couple of days later do they do exactly the same, in case you've forgotten or the email was accidentally deleted? Of course they don't! They don't want to send you a credit card alert.
